To help or not to help?

Yeah chickies can be mean, sometimes I have to separate my newcomers, wrap a cloth around them to make a make shift nest or use cardboard or something to keep them safe until they are a little stronger.

I put the little chick in a small box in the big box with the others. Her neck is still all wierd and she doesn't really walk. :( things are not looking to well.

Well remember what we said about it not being your fault, sometimes you can't save them. However why do you say that? Is she not active anymore? It really can take a few days for them to get better, has she drank any water?

Sometimes they don't hatch out all the way because there is something wrong with them to begin with and they are too weak. She may not make it, but by helping her at least you have given her a chance. If she does not live, my opinion is that it's because there may be a defect that you can not see. Hang on to this: You gave her a chance she wouldn't have had if you didn't help her. If it were at my house, she would have died in the shell because I don't help them. If she doesn't make it, it's not your fault.

I think she may have a leg problem. She hadn't drank, but I used a dropper and gave her some water. I tried to show her the water but I'm not sure she can drink on her own. I have been doing a little therapy with her neck. Who knows if it will help or not. I'm gonna give it some time.

Good luck!

I hope she makes it.

Aww, that's so sad. You did all the right things but as you have read sometimes they don't hatch cause they aren't strong enough. You never know though until you try and sometimes when you help they do live. I like to think about how much better they died out of the shell and warm and relaxed instead of in and cramped and uncomfortable. It's sad when they don't live but you really did a good job!
