To Miss Prissy, and all the "Hatchers" on here: Incubators

Incubators with a fan keep more constant temperatures and humidity throughout the incubator. So, a fan system is always more disirable.

With a turner all you need to do is double check temperature and humidity daily. Candle a few times during incubation and that is it.

Get a hygrometer to track humidity.

For the money the 1588 is your best buy. If you had a little more to add to the budget I would recommend the Brinsea Ova-Easy. 380 egg capacity and fool proof operation. Mine have proved out to be set and forget systems. After I bought the first, one I sold my Sportsmans and replaced them all with the brinsea Ova Easy 380.

WOW!!!!!!! Thanks so much kstaven. The 380 is on sale now for 699.00. I could move the budget around a little to take care of that if the shipping is not too much. This could possibly add another avenue to my business plan that I hadn't really thought of. I could hatch enough replacements and special breed projects plus enough to sell day old straight run chicks locally. The way that they have been selling around here this year, I most likely wouldn't have trouble selling them.

I wonder how good you could do by hatching special orders? Say if someone wanted 10 of one breed, 5 of another and so on. I could custom hatch. Maybe? I am re-thinking now.
Thanks again kstaven. All have been so helpful.

If anyone else has ideas keep them coming.

"Lord I love all things chicken." Ha Ha Ha

I do custom hatches all the time. Just be sure to get half up front on a deposit. Without it people have a bad habit of not showing up when they are supposed to. The universal adjustable racks that come with it will allow you to set any type of egg.

Just to let you know something. I break the hatching rules all the time with that incubator and stagger hatches. I hatch in the bottom tray and just mist the eggs once a day for the last 3 days while in the bottom hatcher pan.

I may be aggravating you with a lot more questions in the near future kstaven. Thanks so much for the help.
