Just reading through this thread lots of great info, thanks! Just wanted to add if you have extra eggs feed them to your dogs, shell and all. The shell is full of calcium. However, never feed a store bought egg shell to a dog, it has been cleaned with a chemical and oiled. We had our dogs the eggs right from the coop.
Will have to try the salt water for boiled eggs my mom taught me to add white vinegar to the water, if the egg cracks the vinegar stops it from seeping out and makes it easier to peel.

We keep the nest box clean & leave the bloom on & refrigerate them.
They are washed before they are cracked or boiled... no dirty eggs in my cooking pot either.
I wonder how many people outside of "byc/chicken world" know that there is a fake bloom on eggs.
I will always wash home eggs AND store bought eggs before using.
I read if you want to wash them & then refrigerate them, you can coat them with mineral oil "to replace the bloom".
