Ok, so I think I may be jumping the gun thinking my profile pic is a roo (3 months old at picture time). I could swear I heard a cock a doodle out of this bird. But now at 4 1/2 months, he/she has short neck feathers and rounded tail feathers. I was going by the occasional light crow as my thinking it's a boy. But since it's a Barred Rock/Brahma mix- I have nothing else to compare to.
When is a rooster definitely a rooster?! No aggressive tendencies either.
Any thoughts here? I don't want to give away a perfectly good boy if she's actually a girl!

could be a late maturing roo, there is no certain age.

I read that. Here's the thing, out of 5 straight run chicks, I believe I have 4 roosters! Maybe I'm just hoping for a hen where there isn't.
When do you know for sure? When they are jumping other chickens, or another way?

With the pale of comb it looks like I say hen, but other hens will jump on other hens backs as dominance
