To TREADLE or not to TREADLE, that is the question.

I really have to applaud you on your use of "chicken stuckage", bravo, haha!

I'm following with interest as I was looking at feeders like this earlier but can't seem to find any to buy with consistently good reviews. Rodents are an issue and I would love to solve it!

What do you have @Oz chic ? I've not ever had a wild bird problem with the treadle feeder but I can't leave food in an open tub.

I have the treadle feeders, they are great, so far, for keeping the birds out.

I previously had the pipe ones like the picture you attached, while i had an enclosed run, the birds stayed away, but as soon as the run was opened, the birds got into the tube feeders.

I have a treadle feeder. It keeps the sparrows out. Not good if you have a large fowl and bantams together. The bantams will jump inside to feed while the large fowl has a foot on the treadle. Then you have bantam stuckage until the large fowl is hungry again. I have heard from others that rats learn to open some models of treadle feeders - presumably these would be bantam-sized models.

I shall cross Bantam's off my list to get!
