Hi there,

I am a new mama of Chocolate Orpingtons. I have 6 eggs, but only 2 have hatched and it is almost 4pm. One of them has a pip hole but hasn't gone any further for the last few hours. My question is - How many days past the due date could you expect eggs to continue to hatch?. And question #2 - Is there a point where I ought to go in and help the little guy get more of her shell off? Because her movement has been small ever since she poked her little beak through. Oh and just as a side note - these eggs are in an incubator.

You would start thinking about helping the pipped one if it hadn't made any progress since 24 hours after the pip.

They can definitely hatch late, especially if your incubator temperature has been low.
