Today is not a good day here at the farm *Updated*...

I feel your pain!

Brand new fence here, big tree on it this afternoon. I got it propped up to keep the horse in.

Working a nightshift tonight, when I get off in the AM I'll catch me a nap then up and out to remove tree and repair fence.

We just fed everyone- everyone is OK and they are just hanging out in the crates until tomorrow morning.

The wind isn't as bad as it was this afternoon, but it's still blowing.

Got a ton of work to do tomorrow.

This morning two ducks are missing

Last night as a "just in case" we put the chickens and ducklings in crates because of the high winds. We ran out of crates to put Quackers and Squirt the Pekins in (and the Muscovies as well, but they fly and we can't catch them). So the only thing we could do was leave them outside next to where the coops are with some food and water. We have had Quackers and Squirt free-range during the day with no problems. Quackers is our disabled duck, so she really can't go far unless she has to.

I knew that the Muscovies would wander around; thought Squirt would stay with Quackers like he usually does.

This morning a Muscovy and Squirt are missing- no where to be found. Quackers and the other Muscovy were under the "hang out" pine tree, waiting for food. There are no feathers anywhere, and we searched some of the property (most of it is wooded).

So I'm really upset that Squirt wandered off, and I can't find him. He was one of the first ducks that I raised from a baby. He is a turd most days, but he was my show duck, too...

I think he might. If something got them they probably would have aimed for the crippled duck that is usually right next to him. The fact that one of the 2 muscovies, which have been free ranging for almost a month and are just about impossible to catch I think is odd too.
