TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

Yes...What it does is he makes his first pip or hole and as the day goes along he rests, learns to breathe on his own and works his way around the shell giving himself out...gives a final big burst or kick and he is free...

You sit on your hands and don't fiddle and open that make shift bator!!!...lol...

I can watch from outside the bator so there will be no touching. LOL i didnt think i was gonna make it this far, and now that i have im gonna do everything i can to not mess it up.

It has been working now for about 1 hr trying to get this one peice of shell peeled back from the egg, then it will be exposed and ill be able to see more than just glimpses. if it cant get out of the shell by late tonight say midnight or so should i still leave it? how long does it usually take for them to zip out once they start working on the shell. The inicial pip was at around 11am so this is now 8 hrs later

24 hours....patience....It's only been 8...it can take 24....

so it might peel and kick at the egg that long, is there a good chance at this point that it will hatch ok though or should i still have some doubt it is talking well and activily trying to get this one big chunk off the top. Also, I have read the low humidity can cause the shell to stick to the chick. Tuffold hen, you know the problems I have had with that, so if this were to happen what would I be looking for, is it life threatening, and what would I do??

It's very normal for a chick to take that long to zip out of the shell...if after 24 hours you feel the need to help its your call..I personally would not help til after the 24 hours is wayy up...I've never had to help one, but this is a special chick and it belongs to you so after that time if you feel it needs help by all means I would not stop you...just remember why it takes so long ...it is resting, breathing and absorbing its yolk sac back up into its stomach....

If you peel the shell back before its time to hatch out it can bleed to death...

Its called patience for a reason....

thanks, I just want to make sure everything is going as normal, and I feel that I should give it the best chance possible. I still cant believe after all it has been through that it is hatching. Today is one of the happiest days of my life!!! I will not interfere with it unless it gets to the point where it has been in the egg past tomorrow afternoon, and if it stops moving, I can see it throught the hole it created Im a pre-vet student and a very strong Christian God will let me know when I need to help it, Im sure I will know. Thanks for your help. I will let you know tomorrow how it makes out and I will have pics most likely to post!
