Well today I came home from work, planning to move eggs to the hatcher. Went thru all the paces in getting the hatching unit ready and up to temp.

Went the the Roll-X to get the eggs and surprise surprise........... 5 of 5 had already hatched.

Still in the turner (or roller in this case).

Humidity 45% all the way through.

All 5, clean as a whistle.

Makes a guy wonder:

A: How did I write the wrong date on the calendar. Eggs were marked 6-2, calander says 6-6.

B: How often are we over scientific in our hatching efforts, don't open the bator, up the humidity, etc. Seems they dd just fine.

The new recruits are 1 black copper, looks real rooish, and 4 eggs from the Araucanas. The araucanas are bantam sized, however they were just separated last weekend. Before separation they are running with some LARGE Buff Brahmas, and some Cuckoo Marans. A couple of the new hatchlings look strangely like they may have some buff blood in them.

Anyhoot....... if they are going to hatch I guess there is not much you can do to stop them.

Happy hatching.

Congratulations!

This post took a bit off my mind, I've been fretting over my eggs in the incubator. Unfortunately I still have 8 more days. So I'm sure I'll start to fret again.

But You got yours early!!!! THAT"S GREAT!

That is amazing. I myself just posted a what-I-considered-emergency post on humidity in my incubator ... and you're absolutely right.

New commercial: "Hatching Eggs. So easy a chicken can do it."

And this took a bit off of my mind too. It's day 18 for my eggs and I haven't stopped worrying about them for at least a day or two now. The eggs started moving last night so I keep going in to see if one will twitch for me lol. I am soo excited.

This is my first batch. So thank you for making me worry less, too!

Life is a miracle.

I love that..."Hatching Eggs. So easy a chicken can do it."

Sometimes I wish I were a chicken.

Ive always thought the most deadly thing in hatching is too high of humidity, and you just proved my point. Ive found chicks in my incubator too, in the turner, when I mis-calculated, and they were the cleanest hatches.

Something to think about.

It does help to have quality machine like a roll-x. With that said i agree that folks over complicate hatching eggs. I open my bators whenever i feel like it while they are hatching and just spray them with warm water to replace any moisture loss. I always just pay attention to the eggs and how they are hatching and if i need to make adjustments i do it then. I have hatched about 300 babies this year.
