Hey Kalie! How's the shed renovation going? Got pics? And why isn't Phoebe a love bug?

I am actually building a coop once my financial aid comes through with the help of some good friends! I have not been able to find a wood shed for less then 900 dollars, and I just really don't have that kind of money. I have a 300-350 max limit. Soo the big permanant coop is on hold until at earliest the end of October when my financial refund comes through.

Phoebe.... Is... A real brat for lack of a better term, actually there is a better term but I will let you fill that blank in. She badgers Munk pretty regularly, and bullies Butternut as well. I can't hold her or touch her without her spazzing, but I can touch and hold everybody else. Because I am in an urban setting I like to be able to catch and hold any of my chickens. She hates this. She is just a real punk ass excuse my language. She is very pretty though, I love her color and body shape she looks like a little basketball lol.

But I told my mom, when Phoebe starts laying, if she has not chilled out, I am rehoming her. I don't want to put her in the same coop as Munk because she ALWAYS goes after her, she just has an issue with Munk and Butternut, but respects Joon. Augh, chicken drama!!!

Thank you specklesmom! Monica is a very sweet girl and I totally reccomend Brahma's now. She took a while to mature and lay, but she has laid 6 eggs in the last 7 days. Pretty good! LOL

Haha kick her out now! You should replace her with a Deleware!

Just this morning I was out feeding my chickens and for some odd reason I started wondering if any of Morgan's chickens had started to lay, then I saw this thread! CONGRATS on the eggs!

Don't get rid of Butternut, she is sooooo beautiful!

LoL yep Brahma is laying really steadily! She took a break yesterday but before laid 6 eggs in 7 days! She is awesome

I want to give Phoebe a chance to change when she hits maturity, plus it will be much easier to rehome an already laying hen then trying to guess when she will lay. If she doesn't lighten up, I am sure somebody with more land/chickens would love to have her. She is really really pretty and has nice color, but she is determind to give Munk a heart attack, plus she bites Butternut and Monica occasionally. She has never bit ME, but I have also never caught her and held her lol.

I am definately not getting rid of Butternut, she is a total sweetie. She sits in my lap and just talks and talks to me.

If I do rehome Phoebe I will either be getting an Olive Egger, or some sort of Plymouth Rock or maybe a Brahma. Not entirely sure. BUT! I am FINALLY getting my financial aid! I will be building an 8x8 coop 7 ft tall for my girls. 5 girls in 8x8 will be PLENTY of room

and they should be very comfortable. No run, because they free range from 8am to 8pm.

Here is my Brahma's egg! This was the VERY first egg

Congrats on the aid! Exciting! You should get more chickens with all that room! Sorry to hear about Phoebz, maybe she'll become sweeter when laying. I dunno why but that's what happened to my previously vicious sexlink Lily lol.
