Toddlers are Quackers

I've been super busy, but I'm catching up. I had 2 of my babies at home, with a midwife. My husband caught both of them as well! Loved home birth, loved the midwife experience, very hands off. I'm all about that when I'm having babies, with our first at the hospital, they would not just let me have my baby. I wouldn't go without a midwife because i have my babies really fast. I mean, 45 min to an hour start of labor to baby in the arms fast, and that can lead to bleeding issues and certain other things, but normally not a big deal. Still, I'll never give birth in a hospital again!

I hope you get to feeling better MC. Puking is the worst.
ooo home birth i am so all about that i had two of my boys at home one with a midwife and one just on our own best thing ever so much freedom and for me i was a million times more comfortable and secure being art home

I had a midwife with my second.

I was supposed to have a midwife/hospital birth with my 4th pregnancy, but we didn't make it to the hospital in time, so my husband delivered her, then we went over to the hospital to be checked out.

I had a birth kit handy, because we live so rurally, and I have such quick labors. I live 30/45 minutes from my local hospitals, which means there's a 90% chance I'd have given birth in the car, had I not already been up in the big city, at a hotel.

it was less then 30 minutes from the time I was SURE baby was coming, to her being born, and I couldn't even walk. They kept asking me if I wanted to go to the hospital and I was like NO. All I could think about was just wanting to have my baby and I was too worried they wouldn't just let me give birth.

I had herbs in my birth kit, that can help with bleeding, and knew how to do uterine massages and nipple stimulation to help the uterus contract.

the only time I've had complications, is while in a hospital setting. It made me afraid to go to the hospital LOL

(also, next pregnancy, I probably will have someone grab me some pitocin from mexico, to keep on hand)

My mom is a veterinarian and lives next door. She thinks how they treat women giving birth in the hospital is akin to chasing a pregnant cow around when she's about to give birth and then loosing the calf to stress.

I was scared to do that with my last birth, because of being a vbac. I wanted access in case of a uterine rupture. and neither of my local hospitals support vbac, so I had to travel 3+ hours to a midwife clinic that had a hospital. In texas, they won't let me give birth in a birth center... I'm considered too high risk.

The doctor is there for when something goes wrong, you don't need them to give birth when everything goes right. It's nice to know that if you need to they are there, but for goodness sakes I like my private moments to stay private, and nothing is more private than giving birth.

i bled out after i had my daughter it was horrible and super scary
I bled out and nearly died with my first.

But that was because of hospital doing an induction wrong, and causing a cascade of unneeded interventions, and problems that resulted in hemorrhaging after birth.

They actually forgot about me, after my son was born and were so busy talking, that my cousin who was there, asked them if it was normal for me to be gushing blood. I almost bled out in front of them and they didn't even notice.

Never, ever, giving birth in a teaching hospital again.

Part of the problem that I had, is they wanted CONSTANT monitoring, for my vbac. It made me not want to go to the hospital until the last minute to avoid being stuck on a 3 foot cord. in early labor stages, i *have* to be moving, rocking, walking, getting in and out of water... wandering around. babbling. That's just what I do. Then, I go into active dilation and it's over fast.... but being stuck in a bed, in a hospital, because of a stupid requirement, and not being allowed to get into the water pisses me off.

I shouldn't have to fight to give birth in a hospital the way I want. If nothing is going wrong, they should work with me. :(
