I thought we were sleeping outside tonight. As soon as we got the tent up, the wind knocked it down. We tried again, and Duckling got inside. She was stuck for a few minutes.

I had to order a few summer things this morning, and new panties. She can wear a few pairs that weren’t shrunk from a million washes, but even they are obviously on their way out. It’s painful tossing clothes, but socks are the only undergarments I think are okay to share/pass down. Speaking of socks, they will need replacing by fall. It’s barefoot/flip flop season now.

Imagine being four, waking on Easter without a basket, and having no idea why you aren’t with your parents. Imagine none of that phasing you.
I could have pulled something together last night, but decided to skip it. We had our Easter, and I thought I’d come up with an excuse for no basket. The truth is that I was exhausted (I didn’t know she was staying here) and upset about things.
Of course she will be fine. Besides, Easter isn’t a bunny! But if she’s going to believe in these fairy tales, I need a heads up!

Her new underwear is dinosaurs, and one pair is olive green. She was happy to exam all of them, but then, “I don’t like those ones. I don’t like that green. Sometimes I poop, and it’s green like that, so I don’t like them.”
