I noticed most the chickens have toes that point backwards when they walk, is that normal or do they need nails clipped or or something?

I'l try tomorrow when it's light out. I was going to but they run away when i get close. I'l give em a treat so they stay near

So sometimes they look like this

What I see:
Three toes pointing more-or-less forward, spread out for good balance.
One shorter toe pointing backward.
The toes and nails curve a little bit, especially the toe on the near side, but not a lot.
All of that looks normal to me.

Did I miss any detail that you are concerned about?

Just the outside right toe, seems to point backwards a little bit sometimes. Wanted to make sure I'm not supposed to be trimming toes like an alpaca or like horse hooves etc

I think the toenail length looks fine.
Chickens usually keep their toenails in good condition by scratching at the ground.

If for some reason you want to trim the ends of their nails, do it the same as you would for a dog, cat, rabbit, or similar animal: snip off the end of the nail, but try not to cut into the quick. (Cutting the quick hurts them and it bleeds for a bit. Then it clots, heals up, and is fine again.)

Thanks for the help.

One of my barred rocks is missing. I guess a hawk or cat carried it off i dunno.
