Tolbunt Polish

Pics
I am going to have to trim the crests of my males ( 1 frizzled and 1 smooth) They totally get their feathers in their watering bowls and then they freeze like popcicles. We use the large rubber bowls in their coops in WInter. We use 3 and rotate them out when frozen-much easier than the plastic waterers but wreaks havoc on thier crests with the feathers being so long:(

I apologize if this has been already discussed. These threads go on for so long that it's impossible to read though every one.

The so-called Tolbunt is simply the Mille Fleur pattern that has not been selected properly for good markings. Those large white patches also occur in Mille Fleur in other breeds, if they are not selected for good pattern. Mille Fleur d'Uccle, Booted and OEGB breeders would cull birds that have large patches like a lot of these Tolbunts. It is the same exact combination of genes, the same exact pattern.

Funny, I didn't think it was Mille Fleur at all.

But actually Gold Lacing with White Mottling.

I'm sorry, but, what?

Tolbunt is Gold Laced with mottling. The large amounts of white is NOT a part of the proposed standard for Tolbunts, but merely a common trait pictured in people's flocks, and commonly liked. It is not the same combination of genes, not the same pattern.

I've posted this photo before, don't know how someone would mistake this for Mille Fleur. Also, it's been discussed a lot the issue of excess white.

People eyeing for a better Tolbunt are eyeing to get rid of it, as we're looking for a balanced mottling like any other mottled/spangled bird.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

NOTHING!!!! I don't think my tolbunt will ever lay.....ACK! Ms. Ugly, the moth eaten, cross beaked silkie is laying EVERY DAY but not the tolbunt....oh no, not her! LOL Actually Ms. Ugly is the only one other than the seramas and shamos that is laying...but it is hard to be patient.
sharon

I have the opposite. I have about 25 layer hens, and the only one laying right now is a 4.5 year old BLP!!!
