Reading how much people have spent vs. how many chicks they get out of it, makes me feel a lot better! If my 1/8 $38+ egg hatches and makes it, I will never again complain about how much that 1 chicken cost. thanks Hawaii for sharing!!!

Well you are in good company, so don't feel bad. My original flock was perfect for me....6 chickens.....marans,BO,RIR,SLW,Brahma and EE.......most were roos, left with marans and EE. Added 2 RIRs and 2 New Hampshire. Marans died last month......egg bound. Now trying to add Araucana and BCM...... started with 34 eggs......down to 10 at lock down........have chicks......Leghorn and BO coming next week. So I'm with you! I figure it keeps me off the street
