Sandy,
looking back, the people that said hens were totaly correct, At 9 months of age the toms would be easy to tell apart. I don't know what I was thinking.

. Anyway, to find a tom if there aren't any members here that chime in local, you can check with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. They have a nation wide database of member breeders and they might be able to hook you up with somebody close. You have to call them though, they won't email address's and phone numbers.

I may end up trying to get some eggs to hatch, once the weather warms up around here...which won't be until well into May.

Thank you for all of your replies and help.

You know, going with a breeder or someone you know well (so you might know the conditions of their birds) is always best, but at all of our local feed stores there are boards where you can either post animals & other "farm" items that you have for sale or that you would like to buy. If you find something, or someone contacts you-you can then go and check out the birds to see their living conditions, health, etc.

I did see a Tom on Craigs list yesterday near Syracuse. That is about 2 hours from me and the guy said he doesn't know how to post pictures, so he couldn't send me one. I don't think I want to make the trip, if I can't even see a picture first. I do live in a large farming area, but they stick pretty much to standard breeds. Every now and then you see something. It's still pretty cold here, so in the spring more may show up.
