My DH dug a hand opperated grinder out of the barn a week ago and showed the neighborhood kids how to use. Scoop a coffee can of corn into the hopper then turn the wheel by hand, the ground corn goes into a bucket then into a bin. I figured it was a novelty that would wear off quickly and we would be right back to using the motorized version in just a few days. Yesterday the line of 6 to 10 yr old boys was eight deep. This morning I was told by my neighbor that her kid has to get 100% on weekly spelling tests or he won't be allowed to grind corn...Wednesday's test was the first perfect one in a year and he is now working on his words for next Wednesday because he doesn't want to loose the privilege of working the grinder.
