Tom Turkey attacking my hen

Hello everyone.. I just thought i would give you an update... Foggy is still alive.. drinking and eating and showing Cass he did not win. She is still indoors and recouping but she may just make it and be able to move in to her own lil coup that we are building for her.

That's one tough hen! Sounds like you are doing everything right! And one other thing, you said the injured area is still feathered? If so, then you may want to remove some of the feathers surrounding the wound, it will help it heal. ;)

I took your advice and clipped some of the feathers away.. she is kinda "scalped" if you will so I didn't want to "pull". Hope that is kinda what you are referring to. I went in there this morning to change her hay and fresh water/food.. she was standing up and fully alert.. she may be part kitty because she is def on like her 5th life. LOL Go Foggy GO...

Go Foggy! My 7month old turkey today started picking on my newest (chick)hen- pinning her down as if to mate. Unfortunately he's a 30 lb BBB so really heavy. He has a "sister" turkey whom he grew up with so he's not at a loss for a mate...he was just asserting his dominance against the "intruder" He never bothers the (chick)hens he grew up with. I may have to keep a closer eye on things. Good to learn about the nest-attacking business. I'll have to modify my all-flock coop now to make sure we don't have issues like that too! Wishing Foggy a full recovery and happy retirement home life.

Is your turkey 7 months old or 8 months old? Either way it is unlikely that it is a BB. See my response to your other post.
