Tom Turkey behavior twords poults

We're planning on going up to Alberta for a couple of weeks this summer and I have about 70 young turkeys that will need a watchful eye. The older birds will not be so much of a challenge.

Were camping over a weekend mid June but our daughter will be here to tend things, the last week of June were flying out to Oklahoma for my Nephews wedding... We shouldnt have any bitties by then that will need special care, if the turkey hen hatches her eggs she will be fine caring for them, our neighbors will take care of everything else for us.. DH is working on an auto watering system so they wont have to keep filling waterers while were gone

Our local farm store is going thru the last of their spring chicks, got a call from the manager today, wanted to make me a deal on the littles (.50 cents each) but I declined, I'll have some in the grow out pen but it will be a manageable number, if I tossed 50 more out there my neighbor might revolt lol

Our tom is very kind to his offspring. Our hen has 13 hatched so far out of 18. A few escaped her pen and were in the main pen area with the big chickens and turkeys. Papa was standing over the two little escapees making sure nobody bothered the little ones. My son said he was making some odd twittering noise at them. He is pretty funny, normally he hangs out on the back porch mooching for goodies, well when another egg is getting ready to hatch he paces around the kennel that we have the hen turkey in like an expectant father. Once the baby is out back to the house he wanders.

Honestly our turkeys are pretty darn spoiled because they have such wonderful personalities. The rotten tempered ones became dinner.
