This being the first time we've hatched ourselves, and we are letting her set instead of using the incubator method. I've been told mama will take care of them, but to what extent. How long do I keep mama and babies in their own wired off area? Does she stay with them until they feather out?

    Good luck with your hatch!

If she's a good mama she'll take care of them for a good 2 months.
You'll have to give her a little help. Keep them seperate from the flock to avoid the chicks geting trampled on, chick starter and some hard boiled egg yolk for mama for a job well done!
