Hi, we just acquired 2 hens from a friend and are learning about owning chickens. We have a buff coloured hen and a speckled hen. Not sure what they are but we like them.

We're glad to have you.

Definitely post in the What Breed or Gender section. You can also post photos of them on here, and we'll be happy to help you identify them!

Glad you joined us!

If you post some photos of your new chickens, I and others will be glad to help you identify them.

Good luck with them!

So glad you could join our community!

Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of good articles on all the aspects of keeping poultry...https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Definitely post pics in our What Breed and Gender section for help with ID's. Yorkshire Coop has left you with the link.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Hi and welcome! As suggested above, a photo of the birds would be great and we can probably help you ID your birds. How old is your Jake? I have one of my own who is 13 and my partner in crime when it comes to the chicken obsession.
