Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

We have another hatcher! It's a beautiful black and yellow one. This one screams Ayam Cemani mix (probably Orpington). Hatched from a medium brown egg.

I opted to meddle and added the tiniest of safety holes to the 4 olive eggers. Something feels off about those eggs. They are the only ones that haven't pipped yet even though I can hear them tap tap tapping. I think it's one of these causes. The egg shells are too hard. If so I've only had this happen 1 other time. In my mind this is very rare but can happen. These are eggs are small and incredibly round. Almost like turtle eggs. Not the best shape for hatching but I bought them as table eggs. So I can't really complain. Maybe the chicks grew too big or otherwise unable to get in proper position because of egg size/shape. Whichever it is I won't intervene again tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Thinking I may have to do the same tonight when I get home day 21 starts now I've been hearing peeping and seeing the eggs move but not real progress being made.

Sometimes it takes 24-48 hours after day 21. I always try to wait till the last minute before I help. Nature usually knows what it's doing. Maybe they're still cooking and just aren't ready yet.

I had eggs that did nothing until 48 hours later. Sometimes I wonder why it takes so long for them to come out. They drive me bananas when they do that.

Bummer. Hopefully your little guys make some progress and intervention is unnecessary. It's so much better when they just hatch on their own.

I know day 21 just started but I started hearing them last night so thinking that they have internally pipped and may need an air hole so they can breathe while they work on it.

I know I'm about ready to pull my hair out lol. I put them in late afternoon early evening on the 22nd so they may not hatch until later tonight.
