Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Our last broody turkey turned out to be a dud. She had 4 dead babies under her most of em looked squished... either in the shell or trying to get out. One more baby was externally piped so it came into the incubator with the batch due tomorrow. Thst hen will not be given eggs again. She was bitey to me and didnt manage to hatch any. She did make a decent incubator just a bad mom... so sad
If this last one makes it we will call it nemo

Oh no! I'm so sorry! I'm the same with my broody hens. If they prove to be a bad broody once, they don't get a second chance.

Ya I have a serama hen that I won’t let hatch anymore. I gave her 2 eggs this fall, she ended up with 4 chicks she stole chicks as they hatched with other broodies, then I had to crate her and the chicks because she tried to kill all the other chicks except her 4. She is in the crate and the other 3 broodies raised the rest of the clutch together.

Yes the 3 earlier the dogs got. Actually the reason I cracked more open was my daughter wanted eggs and English muffin for lunch so I scrambled them all up and what she didn’t want went to the chickens.
We are not big egg eaters here, so I usually hard boil a bunch for the chickens every week. My husband and son don’t like my silkie eggs “they are too rich” and my daughter thinks her dad can’t cook eggs because they taste horrible but really it’s because he cooks store bought and she’s use to my silkie eggs. I think I’ve created a life long chicken farmer as she will never be able to eat store bought eggs. 😂

I can't eat store bought eggs, they give me migraines. There are a couple of brands that I found that didn't cause migraines before I had chickens but I always found that kind of creepy anyway...like, what's in store bought eggs that caused me to get sick when I can happily eat a quiche from backyard chickens with no issues? I'll stick to my deliciously rich, fresh, healthy eggs thanks! lol

Thanks! Dealing with a slipped tendon at the moment. Any tips to keep it in place? Then can post pictures of them. Hands are tied currently.

Med wrap/vet wrap, it's the stretchy wrap that sticks to itself without adhesive. Sipped tendons are tough but if you can see it and slide it back into place with the leg somewhat straight then gently wrap the leg to keep it in the position so that the tendon is less likely to slip back. I also would make a little sling to prevent the little one from using it's leg the for time being.
