Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Is it normal to just stare at the eggs once you put them into lockdown?? Because I can’t stop looking at them checking for pips.

OH thinks ive lost it as I keep whistling when i go past the eggs. They are going to respond to me at some point ha. No I think you are good, I keep looking at these eggs too. They should wriggle at some point too right, that will make my day.

I am using the Little Giant incubator and I have 8 chicks so far, another is zipping and waiting on the last 3. The water I put in the bottom to up the humidity is getting kinda nasty, should I change it or just leave it? They started hatching the night before last.

I don't think you could change it out if you have chicks actively hatching. That's one of the tough parts about a staggered hatch, it gets icky pretty quickly.

That's what I was concerned about since they're actively hatching. It wasn't supposed to be a staggered hatch, they all went in at the same time.

No problem! Did you put the chicks that hatched a couple days ago into the brooder? There may have been some cool spots in the incubator delaying a few of the chicks, or vice versa if the others were early then there may have been warm spots.

Little Giants are kind of notorious for hot/cold spots, I used to have one too.
