Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

The poultry cell has some selenium in it.

You could also get selenium for humans and crush a pill and mix a very small amount of the crushed pill into a little of the nutridrench. You'd want to give her very very little of the selenium though as selenium is easier to overdose on than the other vitamins. I give my older babies around 25-50 mcg which is about an 1/8th - 1/4th of a 200 mcg pill. With her being so little I'd give less than that though.

What she is doing definitely sounds like it could be wry neck to me.
This is one of these things like assisting hatches. I do it, think I’m crazy & sometimes it works but (for me) mostly, it doesn’t. The silkies & polish are domed skull breeds and sometimes this just happens. I’ve lost 3 and it stinks. Do make sure you feed non medicated chick starter to it bc I’ve read the medicated can impede vitamin absorption in silkies & polish. I’m sorry. It stinks, and ultimately, I’ve found wry neck is pretty hard to fix.

These are supposed to be for meat. I've had difficulty following through on putting ducks in the freezer because they are too cute. I think muscovies are ugly so I though using him over my pekins would make it easier. But I have a feeling the ducklings are going to be extra cute.

Also, the bullseye was hard to see on my eggs. I had him in with the girls for about a week and got 8 out of 11 eggs fertile. One quit early. One just quit. 6 out of 11 left.View attachment 2023107
My muscovy will never have the carnucles like that, she was bred to not get them so she looks gorgeous to me.

We are also going to be using the offspring from ours for meat. My family loves meat and I would rather them eat meat that we raise than buy it at the grocery store.

I kinda like how mine looks with his mohawk. His name is Howard. My husband named him that since he likes the lady ducks so much. Lol. We raise almost all our own meat. I can't remember the last time I bought something besides pepperonis or sandwich meat. I've even made my own keilbasa and sliced ham.

I plan on making sausages and stuff like chicken sausage. We actually sold all of our chickens we were going to use for meat, so we are starting from the beginning 😂 I actually have one of the chicks from that hatch so we are going to process it soon.

I took a quick picture of her when she came out to the food bowl. Before she had her head on the ground between her legs. A nd was rolling all around. Should I wait a bit for the poultry cell or just give it to her. She had nutridrench about 1 hour ago

I'd give the poultry cell now. It should improve relatively fast if it's going to. Within a day. I five vitamins every few hours until better.

@Mylied and all you wonderful chicken friends, thank you. I gave the poultry cell. There is not much more I can do. I will give more in a couple of hours and keep a close eye on her.

Now another issue. I have to deal with the 23 day old silkie egg which Im pretty sure was a late quitter. It was alive at lockdown. Im thinking maybe it was malpositioned also and hit a vessel when trying to pip or drowned. I have a sterilized screw and some coconut oil. Im going to treat as an assist but its most likely a goner. I may need help as I've only done this with an early quitter so I just cracked it open and looked at it. Here goes nothing...
