Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Yes it hatched. I got lucky it was able to pip externally without hitting a vessel or anything. It hatched fine but did have minor splay leg and on the second day it came down with pretty serious wry neck. But I treated it and it is now 3 weeks old and doing absolutely fine thank goodness. I only had one hatch from this batch so I purchased 3 silkie friends for it and another of my friends had a singleton (swedish flower) hatch so she gave it to me. So now I have 5 total. Taking pictures today to figure out colors. Congrats on your hatch!
Wow, nice!

Thanks! Last one hatching now.

Well, the last one half unzipped and I waited too long to help when it stopped and it was already gone when I did step in. It was a french black copper maran. The other fbcm I opened and was a clear egg with about the thickest shell ever. So none of those this time. I ended up with 14 of the 16 set, 1 was clear and 1 dis, poor guy.

The poultry cell from tractor supply worked miracle on my wry neck splay legged chick. The nutridrench just wasn't working but two days with hobble and drips of poultry cell right into the beak from a q-tip so too much didn't go down did the trick. Hope it works for you <3

Hooray, I'm so happy the poultry cell helped! :celebrate

Aww I'm so sorry about the little zipper not making it. :hugs

Congratulations on such a great hatch otherwise!

That's still a really great hatch rate! I'm sorry for the little one you lost so close to hatch. :hugs It sounds like he may have had something wrong with him to quit at that point.

Where do you get poultry cell? I feel like I should look into it! I've had good results with Nutridrench myself but I like to have a little arsenal on hand for whatever's may come up, lol.

I either get it from tractor supply or order it off amazon. I used to use poly vi sol without iron when I wanted to give some extra vitamins but switched over when I saw the poultry cell being recommended for wry neck in silkies. I definitely like having it on hand. :)

This little one from the group I hatched a few days ago has a cute little spot on one cheek. I feel like it's probably going to feather in all black but I can't help but hope it keeps the spot. Thought I'd share since it's not something I've seen before and I thought it was interesting. I'm going to see if I can get any answers about this color from more experienced paint silkie breeders. :)

What a sh***y weekend, so out of 11 that went in to lock down only FIVE hatched one of which had to be assisted.
Out of the seven all were facing the wrong way, 5 malpositions, heads tucked under wings, heads between legs. 2 pipped the wrong way through blood vessels and bled out.
Ive never had such an awful hatch :(
Im now left wondering if its simply related to the Brahma/araucana hybrid mix because i just cant understand why so many didnt position themselves properly???????
