If size and color are some considerations, Cayugas are a good choice. I'm in Maine, and they winter well. There's sooo many duck choices!!!!

This is my rouen and blue Swedish female. They are about the same size as my female muscovies. If a female muscovie is big enough for your males i think these guys would be to. That is just my opinion.

Are those brown ones Rouen? They're really nice. I absolutely love your Swedish blue, I'm in ontario and the winters here can be brutal, last year I kept them all in boxstalls in the barn and they hated it, I was so afraid they would freeze

How do you winter yours? Do you let them outside or keep them in?

I live in WI so the winters are bad. Mine live in a barn. they have an option to go out during the day and the barn is locked up at night. I do lose some birds every year to the freezing cold. (Chickens more then ducks). I try to keep the barn above freezing with heat lamps so the water does not freeze.

Thank you. My Rouen are 3 now and the Swedish is 2. My pekins are the oldest at 4. I just love my ducks!

I didn't use heat lamps last year so I was out twice a day breaking ice out of their water buckets and taking out warm water, I think this year I'll get heated buckets. This will be my first winter with chickens, I just got 12 this spring, chickens are fun to watch but ducks just seem to have so much more in the personality department.
