I have 2 different types of bators running.
I have the still air off the rack styrobator and a Lyons
So far both have given me fair hatches.
The Lyons doesnt have an auto turner yet, but what I find with hte Lyons is the wet bulb and the wafer seem to always be in the way when you turn eggs.
It appears it doesnt matter where you place the eggs the wet bulb finds one and cracks it.
The Styro off the self
TSC bator, is fine with out an auto turner but I find it spikes and drops temp more easily than it should.
even with the temp drops and spikes I have a better hatch rate with the styro bator.
I was wondering if its
A) because there is better exchange of fresh air.
B) because you have to be more attentive (turning more etc)
or
C) there just isnt any reason.
I have used my auto turner with the Still air and decided the leg issues were not worth the cost of the turner,
maybe mine is defective, I am not sure, but curled feet and leg deformaties were rampant in most of the eggs hatched using the turner.
Since going back to just laying them on their sides in the bator I havent seen one curled foot , nor any leg deformaties.
is my turner whacked or could it be a genetic thing with my birds, I am not sure, I do know how ever that the 3 different types of birds, chicken duck and quail have all stopped snce taking the turner out.
