BOSS is another good treat, promotes feather growth, and is higher in protein than is scratch. I give them some every morning - it distracts them so I can fill feeders and waterers without tripping over chickens.
The only "too much" (with high protein treats) is that they may not eat their feed, which is formulated to give them the correct amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
You may be creating chickens who start to refuse their feed (I'd rather eat candy than a balanced diet, too).
Mealworms are pretty expensive, but they are a good source of protein.
