I have 7 roosters and 20 hens... roosters fight all the time and the poor hens can't rest with so may boys on the flock always bothering them. is it ok to have so many roosters? Someone please advise what to do...

I THOUGHT ABOUT IT... I DON'T EAT MY ANIMALS BUT IM THINKING ON TRADING OR SELLING THEM.. YOU ARE RIGHT.. MY HENS ARE STRESSED OUT... TOO MUCH PRESSURE :)

This isn't a rant on the right or wrong of eating livestock.

Chicks hatch at a rate of nearly 60% cockerels and the rest pullets. When it's best to have 1 cockerel for every 10 hens. Something has to happen to the rest of the males.

Trade for what? Sell them? Unless they're a rare breed, they won't sell other than for under $5 in which case someone else will be eating your pets that you've spent a lot of money and love raising them in a nice environment.
I assume you're a vegetarian. I'm sorry if I offended you.

I hate culling day too. I dread it.
However, whenever I cull the extra roosters, all the mayhem calms down and there is once again peace in the flock. And they're great roasted with some sea salt, cracked pepper and rosemary.

I like the humor. My mother used to call roast chicken "young rooster". Which is what it was. So, yes, pick two (brothers if possible, they will get along), the rest will be in the freezer.

Not offended ... you can give me your opinion, this is what this site is all about.
I am not a vegetarian but I just don't eat the animals I raise.
Where I live roosters are sold from 20 to 30 a piece so I have hope that someone needs one to start their flock :)
