I have been raising chickens for about five years now. I have hatched four or five batches of eggs and have always had good luck with most of them hatching. I usually have an 80 to 90% success rate. All my chicks have been hens with one rooster one time. This last batch I hatch was with new hens and two new roosters, I had to start over recently. 20 of the 22 eggs hatched and 14 of those are roosters. Any ideas what may have happened?

Yeah chicken math! So. Unlike in humans the hen decides the sex. I'm sure ther is absolutely no scientific evidence to say that a hen has a habit of throwing more pullets than males - but I'm hoping so. I've just hatched my first lot which was all 1 hen under 1 roo and so far 3 that hatched are all girls. This hen earned herself a breeder job :)
