Too many roosters

Last year when I ordered chicks from McMurray Hatchery I received a Bielefelder rooster. Fell in love with him and decided to order 6 female chicks this year. Not only did I get 6 Bielefelder chicks they also sent 8 male yellow chicks "for warmth". I'm not even sure the ones I ordered are all females. I'm really discouraged with this hatchery. Not sure if they can really be trusted. And what am I going to do with 8 roosters. I have 2 roosters and 28 hens not counting the chicks

Eat them or find someone else who wants to eat them. Or use them for dog feed

Oh wow. I mean, they make good soup, but that's assuming you have enough space to house and raise them for a while. From the hatchery's perspective there isn't much difference between killing them and using them as live packing material, but it seems like Mcmurray would at least ask for your consent before they did this.

I'd be tickled pink if they sent me that many extra birds in an order.

I use my hens just for eggs. I got the bielefelders to see if I could hatch and sell the chicks. I'm just not sure about butchering as I've never done it.

I love roosters, they make a real good chicken and dumplings
