Can anyone advise me about feathers absorbing olive oil? The Lavender bath recipe I made had too much oil in it and my hen's feathers are pretty greasy. Will it eventually absorb in? We had mite problem & the other 4 came through after DME treatments. This hen still had red sore looking skin and lost her whole stomach feathers. I read a recipe for lavender bath that called for olive oil and I think I got too much. It's hot here so no worry about getting chilled, but will this hurt her?

Lol that's one greasy chicken. It won't hurt her, but you should remove as much oil off her.

Get some flour apply to oily areas, gently rub it in, then use a clean kitchen towel and wipe it off.

She doesn't want to be caught, she's not a cuddly one. It seems that shes drying up some. I was worried about dirt/dust on top of the oil. First photo is priir to mite problem 0412211901.jpg 0704211414a.jpg 0704211413.jpg
