Full welded wire on my run. Better safe than sorry.

Or you can use a strand of electric fence along the top of the run.

Gail, your coop looks rad. I like the roof a lot. Beyond aesthetics, it looks well put together.

My novice's approach to the OP's question is that I'm going over my whole set-up and pretending to be a furry predator. Top security now=less/no carnage later. Good luck.

By the way, I saw a link around BYC somewhere that featured a handy spreadsheet for chicken-related expenditures. We're probably all a tad scared to use that particular spreadsheet....

For a fraction of the cost you can put a hot wire at the bottom and one at the top . it will keep anything from climbing and as for the flying critters poulty netting is fairly cheap and keeps the chickens in and hawks and suck out..hope this helps..
