Topic of the Week - Christmas in the Coop

For several years the kids have been taking Christmas Eve pics with their fav bird. Not sure how this tradition started, but it's fun to see the kids & their chickens grow up together.

Sadly this year, both kids have fever & strep, so no Christmas Eve chicken photo. They are completely miserable right now! I hope to remember to get them dressed up & take pics later in the week.

I can't say that I have time to decorate the coop - more than winter-proofing. However, sometimes we send out chicken themed Holiday greetings.

I'm gonna give my chickens a gift: crickets. Five for each of them. I only have two chickens.

What a great idea! I bet they will love that!

I made the girls and gentlemen a treat tree! They absolutely love it! I feel crazy for doing it but hey if it makes them happy and it’s the time to give when they already give me so much!

Wow! I am so impressed! definitely gonna have to try that in the future.

Beautiful! and I love the name! P&P is my all time favorite book :)

We decorate the exterior/interior of the coop. The part which houses the hens are free of decor (that could present a potential hazard). We do hang fresh herbs to dry where the ladies reside. They get scratch and fresh greens from the garden for their Christmas treats (as we have a mild climate and garden year round).

Gorgeous decorations! I bet they smell amazing too

On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
12 cackling guineas
11 baby chicks
10 fuzzy pullets
9 Silkie Bantams
8 Calls Ducks quacking
7 roos a-crowing
6 Leghorns laying
5 BUFF ORPINGTONS!
4 Wyandottes
3 broody hens and
2 Belgian D'Uccle and
A PEACOCK IN A PEAR TREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:clap

Thanks for sharing! Hope they feel better soon!

Mine have christmas diapers that are very cute.

I took some christmas photos of my babies before Spook passed, but it's still very very raw for me and I don't think it's right to share them with it so recent.. I don't have any with Boss and Flurry. But they have the christmas diapers and they are here with the fam on christmas eve and will be tomorrow also. Spoiled pets.

I should have gotten Christmas pics of my chickens! I guess it's too late now! :p I bought my chickens a Forage Block from TSC and they kind of like it? Hoping I didn't spend money on something those conisseurs won't touch. Lol. I also gave them a ton of leftover rice from dinner last night and I'm teaching my Orp to ride in my bike basket. Teehee.
