Topic of the Week - Incubating eggs

I have the incubators going,all three are holding temp and humidity. I'm curious to see how the bobwhites do. Coturnix will hatch setting in the sun.lol

Its strange to me that such a small egg has such a long incubation period

23 days for the Bobwhites and 17 days on the Coturnix. The way I set the eggs they should all hatch at the same time

Hope they hatch for you.

If you can keep the cots and bobs separate in a brooder. Bobs are kinda aggressive and will kill the cots.

Bobs at least the ones I hatched seemed to like a lot more heat in the brooder than cots need.

I have multiple large brooders.

If the bobs can't get with the program they will get a free ride to camp.

Each brooder will house well over 100 chickens. Should do fine for the quail. I can control the heat fairly easily

I've raised Coturnix before. This will be my first bobs.Maybe my last if they prove too problematic. I couldn't believe how large the Coturnix eggs from JMF were. They obviously know what they are doing.
