Topic of the Week - When eggs go wrong

Pics
Associated question: why are my very fresh hard boiled eggs so hard to peel? What should I be doing to majke them easy-peel the next day?
Steam them! First pierce a tiny hole into the large end, and place that end up in a pan. I use a little plastic device to keep them upright. I never have trouble peeling the freshest eggs. Yes, even eggs laid today.
Some people use an instant pot to steam them.
Or you can buy an inexpensive egg steamer which times them automatically.

I boil mine then run cold water into the pan & let them sit there a bit. Then when they're cold I can peel them easily or put them in the refrigerator to peel easy later. The only time I found some hard to peel was when I was rushing the cooling off process as I wanted egg salad or making potato salad with egg & wanted to get started Now...egg felt cool on the outside but was still hot inside...won't peel right. You have to run cold water into the pan a few times & let them cool down all the way through.

With approximately 2% of eggs laid by hens not quite making "egg box quality", chances are most of us at some point put our hands in a nest box and went "What the ?!?!?!!" Or worse, cracked an egg into the frying pan...

This week I would like to see and hear about when your hens got egg-laying very wrong. Be it multiple yolkers, soft-shelled eggs, or unidentifiable offerings. What did you get, what is "normal" and when do you start worrying?

Here's a few pictures of some funny eggs we've had over the past few months. Shell-less, oblong, mini, double yolkers, and bumpy eggs.

The days you reach in to pick up and egg and it breaks in your fingers because it is so soft. Yolk and white running. Or an egg that is so small it looks like it was laid by a sparrow. No worries, it only happens once in a while.
