TORI! Your Grandchickies are HATCHING!! WOOT!!

Another one of Becky's just hatched a few minutes ago!

And I had one of Georgia's hatch last night...for a grand total of 7 silkies hatched and 4 more silkie eggs to go! WOOT!!!

I had another mille pip, one of feathers, but it didn't hatch. pipped a hole and passed away in its shell. I found it too late to help it. The membrane wasn't dry either, as I thought maybe the mebrane dried and stuck to it. Only thing I can figure is it was too big for it's shell and couldn't turn to zip.

Congratulations Aly

I'm so glad they're doing so well for you.

With the Millie's toes... try making little "boots" for them to help flatten out their feet. Only takes about 24 hours - they hate it - but it really helps.

Beautiful babies!

Did you put flippers or boots on your banty feet? I cut out a plastic disposable lid and used bandaides for one of my light grey colored silkie chick's feet that hatched from Tori's eggs. I'm 99% sure it is the same chick that froze a short time and I brought it back to life after it began wandering out of the nest in the coop. After that, they came into the house! Its legs and feet are fine now:) I just took updated pics last night and forgot the camera at home (DD was on computer last night so I couldn't download pics at home.)

How's about updated pics??? After all, we're "family" now;) And, are our silkies related to Kentuckysilkies? Seems I saw Tori post something about that a while back...?

I did the boot thing, well tried to. I had one Mille pass away. The other one is still trying to get around and has one foot that the boots worked with. So she/he hops around on one foot. I was handfeeding and watering him/her for awhile, but now he/she gets food/water on its own.

Yes, I know, new pictures LOL
I will work on that tomorrow, I promise!

I know they have a good mommy!

Your silkies are related to pbjmakers and snowydiamonds... we're ALL one big happy family! LOL! But no, not KentuckySilkies, though I wish! I have 4 silkies that are grandbabies to Bamachicken's babies, but they won't be laying until next year.

Here's pics of mine from last night, they now love to scratch around and get the Aspen shavings in their water and feed, all over the floor and the dogs track it throughout the house...but its too cold to put them outside in the coops as I haven't added the heater to each one and won't until it gets colder in Jan-March. The EE chicks are almost as big as the silkies now!
