Torn beak and injured foot...Somewhat graphic with pic

So only pooped once for the day, last night. I mashed up some eggs shells, is this enough calcium for her?
Yes, as long as they are egg shells from your own birds fresh eggs that shoud be fine. If they are from birds outside your flock do not feed them. If they are not fresh bake them for 15 minutes at 350 Fahrenheit on a baking tray. Give her access to grit if she is eating a whole grain chicken food or greens and other treats.

Poor baby! That must have been so scary...

Keep the wounds clean and keep her inside to prevent infection, pecking from other chickens, and flies. I'd also give her some electrolytes to get her rehydrated.

For food, her beak is going to be very sore, so a slurry of pellet or crumble mixed with water might be easier for her to eat, or scramble her some eggs. Putting a little vitamins in there - Nutridrench or Poultry Cell - might help perk her up.

I think she will heal fine if you can stave off infection. Close up pics of the wounds to her face and foot will help. Remember to keep damaged skin and open wounds moist, and that chickens' bruises are green (it's not infection or gangrene). Use hibiclens or Vetericyn to clean wounds and antibiotic ointment w/out pain killers to keep things moist. Broken beaks usually heal on their own, but cleanliness is always good.

ETA: Just realized this is from several days ago! Looks like she's on the mend! I'd still give her soft food and electrolytes, but it looks like you've got her on the right track! Woo hoo!

So I think our girl is going to be blind on the right side and has the torn beak. Her foot is a little blue from the BluKote. How do I tell if she is eating or drinking? It is not looking noticeable to us, but she does go to both bowls. She also laid a small egg today.View attachment 3185005
That's great that she laid an egg!

Keep a close eye on her or check her crop to see if she's been eating. Put small amounts of food out for her so you'll be able to see if any is being consumed.

Yes, we only provide the egg shells from our own chickens and I do cook them. We have the crumble, and then clover and fruit.

How do you tell from her crop if she has been eating? We are continuously providing electrolytes/vitamins in her water. She is also getting crumble, fine grain cooked egg shells, strawberries, mango, watermelon and clover.

Her crop is like a pouch on the right side of her chest. You should feel good in there by gently feeling under her feathers. Her crop should be full at night and empty by morning. Some birds stuff themselves and will have huge crops! Some birds don't.

The crop should feel a little like a bean bag. It should NOT feel like a balloon.

How is she doing today?
We had someone watching her over the weekend, and I don't think they gave her enough water. She was super thirsty and drank for a good 20 minutes from the dropper. She will take water from a dropper on her blind side, no problem. Now that we are home again, we will be keeping a close eye on her. Today is a hot one.

This evening we put her in with the other chickens, but still in the dog create. I'm not sure if she will ever be able to fully integrate in with the flock again with being blind on the one side and her beak and foot still on the mend. She did need the company of her flock though because she was getting lonely inside.
