Torn toenail

My gander got his toenail caught under the garden cart wheel today. It looks like the toenail broke. It was bleeding so I made sure to fill his bath tub with clean water. The bleeding had stopped until he took a bath. He's favoring the injured foot slightly.

Do I need to do anything else execpt keep an eye on his toenail and make sure he can wash it off in clean water daily?

Geese are pretty resistant to most infections (they have a high body temp, like 105 F).

You could put Blu-Kote on the toenail once a day and it will be fine. It will probably heal up fine if you do nothing but let it bathe in clean water.
