I currently have 2 roosters (soon to be one) and they recently got in an altercation over a chicken (much like a bar fight)... Big Red tore one of Charlie's waddles and I'm worried the chickens may peck at him with all the dried blood on his neck . They haven't yet but I'm worried. How do I combat infection and do I really have to trim the waddle now? Please help!

washing it would be good like mountain peeps said :) make sure it doesnt get infected. Chickens only peck of there is blood.(usually unless there is more reason)

Sorry it took so long to reply! Thank you all for the advice... I put Charlie in solitary and his waddle has healed completely and I was able to release him back into the population. Charlie now has stood up to Big Red and is holding his own! Still... May be eating Big Red soon... Jus sayin :)

Good news - glad Charlie is all healed up. Wattles tend to heal pretty quickly.
