Torn Wattle, what to do

I'm so glad the vet was able to help! I had a leghorn who got into a scuffle and received a torn wattle. It wasn't as bad as yours, so there was no impromptu surgery, but it was pretty bad. I cleaned it and used Quick Stop and she looked so much better the next day. It is amazing how quickly they heal. Good luck

No, they really don't...i used my brooder section as a recovery pen recently for a hen on controlled feeding and she paced a LOT!

So I see! No one would roost, they were all fighting about where to settle. Really screwed up the dynamics. I'm out here right now, just applied blukote and considering leaving him on the roost with the rest. Its really well closed up I guess from the chemical stuff she used. All that frantic pacing and throwing himself at the cage doors amazingly didn't get it bleeding. Here's the current appearance.

Wow, it looks so much better!! I like blue kote a lot. Honestly I would let him roost with the others. It looks really good. Keep an eye on the situation of course, but it may be less stressful for all if he's allowed to roost.

They do seem to. I've seen wound pics on here that really made me think no way, lost cause. 3 weeks later they're bopping around like nothing happened. Glad yours did well, hopefully Bruno does also.

He's up there now and calming down. He was so stressed, wings out panting stressed. I have a coop cam and all is quiet. Maybe I'll get up early and see if they leave it alone.

Might be fine to let him roost with the rest.
I have mixed feelings about blukote, have seen it attract just as much pecking attention as blood, and preening off from bird it's on.
Course the scab will have much the same color.

Nice application of the BK tho.

I got pump version of Blukote, never saw that before. Considering it's placement that seemed easiest, sprayed it on a Q tip till drippping then just rolled it along the edge. I think if he needs separated tomorrow I'll try bringing him inside, my dog will lay by the crate all day, she loves them. Might curtail the panic.

That's what I have too, I spray into bottle cap and use qtip to apply.

Might try putting him back with flock and see how it goes,
re-integration always better done sooner than later.
I've had some pretty bloody combs(then black scabbed) and never separated,
once the fight was over it was over.

I'll get up early, they'll just barely be up hopefully, make sure things aren't going south out there. They are getting up really early lately though, some are down in the mid 5s. Those plastic walls you know!
