I’ve been having tornado warning lately and I’m wondering what advice people have about preparing chickens for tornadoes, and what I should do if I know there might be a watch, or just in general because I just moved into tornado valley.

we don't really have many tornados where I live but one piece of advice someone gave me a while ago is not to lock them in there coop to keep them safe. let them have the option of coop or run so they can get out of one if say the roof is torn off and things are flying around.

I also live in tornado alley. If the weather is predicted to get real bad I will catch all the chickens up put them in show, live traps and those shipping cages and put them in our barn depending if I have some birds in pens that will blow over.

What kind of coop do you have? If it’s like a shed you can keep their food and a small bowl of water so they can stay inside their house.

It’s just a closed in middle with open runs on either side, not sure how it was built it came with the property
