Tornado warning here in branson

I have 30 chickens all but 2 are pullets under 10 weeks old. They are in a coop on my back deck. I secured the coop as best i can ( i am soaking wet right now) My daughter wants me to go to her house 20 miles away which has a basement. but she said i couldnt bring my chickens, so i am going to stay and pray. I also have 16 serama eggs in the bator and have hooked it up to a mini gen in case we lose power, but that will only woork for 45 mins. I just cant think of anything else to do.

Donna, I love my birds, but there needs to be a line drawn- please do NOT risk your safety, especially your life, for your birds. That green sky is an omen of tornados. Go, and go now. Birds are far more capable of survival then we give them credit for.

Let us know if you and the chickens made out ok. You might be able
to use pocket warmers if the power goes out??? Leave the bator
shut as long as you can.

More prayers from over here! I understand the urge to save your flock- last summer I nearly got struck by lightening trying to get my girls in their coop (the hair on my body stood up and I heard a high pitched whine, I hit the ground and lightening struck the tree behind the fence. Scary!) when we had tornado warnings left and right. Please be safe! As for the incubator, my back up plan for keeping the babies warm if we lose power has been to fire up my gas stove and keep the kitchen toasty- so far I haven't had to do it.

the worst is over yay!!!! closest it got was 20 miles away in nixa. we got the winds pretty bad though. The sky was greeny looking for a bit which usually means hail, but it turned a beautiful shade of orange and i knew it was over. Yes my animals are my life and i wouldnt want anyone scared. My cresteds ( they are dogs) stayed with me in the bath tub with a mattresss over us during the worst. we didnt loose power and i just turned my eggs and was presented with lots of spider veins with only one unfertilized eggie yay. I prepped the guest room for my chickens that are outside, but the wind kept me from bringing them inside. they are all fine Thank God in heaven all is well. thankyou for your comments. I really wasted a post with this because i didnt ever turn my pc back on to see if there was anything else i should do for my chickies. TY Donna 20 miles from branson
