I was cutting into a 3 lb ham, sliced by hand, it slipped into the wash water in my kitchen sink after I done the dishes. I quickly got the ham out within 3 seconds and rinse well with cold water.

Now I do not know if the ham still will be good, I took a small sandwich and didn't feel ill at all or does it taste soapy. In fact, it was good.

Should I toss it or cook it to be sure it killed all the germs that was in the wash water? It is sitting in the refigerator with plastic bag. It said it is double smoked and in natural juices.

Man, there goes my 12 dollar ham!

Your suggestions?

I would eat it, but thats me. If it was your wash water, that water was on your dishes too. So if the ham is dirty, then so are your dishes!

Hmmmm! hard one. You say it IS presliced? like spiral sliced? If it wasnt sliced at all I wouldnt worry. If it is sliced I wonder if it would hurt it to go in some boiling water for a few minutes?

No, it was not sliced as I failed to read the package thought they were sliced. So that is why I sliced it by hand and the ham decided to take a bath!
