Nothing is going to stop me! I keep ordering more hatching eggs! I would be in HUGE trouble if too many hatched!

I just want some to hatch to cure this case of incubitis!

You and me both!

(Think that will work????)

We can but try! I know that it seems like a "waste" of money and that I could have ordered several hundred chicks for what I have spent on hatching eggs and bators, but I coulda drank or gambled sevral hundred dollars away, right!

Eggszactly!

I think the return, however low a ratio of hatched versus set, is far better than either of those two other addictions. There is no upside to drinking, and gambling...well, we get some chicks, which are much niftier than simply winning money just to gamble that away, too.

It's so awesome - in the truest sense of "awe" - to have life spring from something we could just as easily have cooked up for breffus 21 days earlier.

So I discovered something sort of interesting....I know when you receive shipped eggs you are told to let them reastt ATLEAST 8 hours the more the better usually I wait about 24 well twice I've gotten a little bit lazy and the let rest for 2 whole days. Then placed the in the incubator and out of two sets of 14 eggs on both I've only tossed 1 egg each....So from now on I think I'll be doing it that way because it seems like they settle better and have a better chance at Viability.

I've been having problems too with shipped eggs silkie eggs specifically DRIVING ME CRAZY. But alot of times if you notify the seller they're nice enough to resend eggs with just a shipping charge.

I guess my post made my luck change! I have a pip and cheeping from one egg

At this point, I will be happy for just that one to hatch. Maybe it is my Serama roo that I want for my girls...but yeah, I don't want to open my eggs either if they don't hatch. It breaks my heart even though I know it is a teaching experience. It is hard enough for me to open up the quitters. I always hold my breath wondering if I made the wrong call.

Yeay! I am getting several different lots of eggs and some of them will be "resting" for 2-3 days, and I was worried about that, but if it works well for you that makes me feel better! I know I did not let mine rest long enough last time!

I always wait 24 hours at least. As long as the eggs aren't really old when I get them, I think you can wait that and longer. I find the air sacks settle to a good place even if they are detached.

Okay have to add my 2 cents I guess....I bought frizzle eggs off of ebay. This is my first attempt at hatching from a bator. I know after I bought them it occured to me that I should have used some of the eggs from my girls...lol. Anyway they arrived on during a cold snap. Eggs were out of fridge cold i let them sit out overnight and placed them in the bator. Today as I sit here typing this I have 4 chicks hopping around in the bator and 2 more creating their zippers...so it looks like I will get 6 out of the 10 I bought....at day 18 I had to discard 1 so bator on lockdown had 9 eggs. The last 3 may be doing something but even if not I am happy. Oh and today is day 21.

im such a pessimest and never even dreamed that any of my eggs would hatch. we had a black out and it was over. but then we had 24 chicks, then the next batch went perfectly but no chicks at all?
