Hello there!

This is my first post as I am very new to all of this and became a chicky mama kind of on accident.

I purchased this coop today which had pretty good reviews on Wayfair.

I have not had time to thoroughly research the way I would have liked to. I went back and read reviews on Amazon this time and they weren't great. I have 3 chicks that are about 5 days old right now. The coop will go in an enclosed area that is about 30 feet by 30 feet. The coop will primarily be used to house them at night and keep them safe from predators and such.

I spent about $300.00 and am wondering if I should cancel my order and go with something different. I would like to spend the same amount or even less. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I am located near Austin, Texas so that can give you an idea of weather and such. No need to worry about harsh winters or snow!

It looks big enough for three chickens, but you might want something a little sturdier. Often these pre fab coops don't last very long, and confine you to a very small number of birds. Building your own would definitely be better quality, and cheaper if you reuse wood off of places like Craigslist. If you build your own, it frees up your options and you are only limited by your ability and how hard you work to find resources, as well as the resources themselves. I am currently in the construction phase of turning and old 4' by 4' playhouse into a usable coop for my chicks. I strongly recommend building your own, however, you may be very happy with the coop you ordered. Either way, good luck!..and happy chicken-ing!
