Totally creepy!

I have seen a feral cat be shot before and those things can move. Even if they die quickly, they get quite a distance before they do. I don't think I would worry too much about someone having dumped it there. If they did though, that is rather creepy.
I have heard that coons are notorious for just eating the hind end of animal.

I cannot believe someone has taken umbrage over someone else's intention to shoot an already dead cat.

Whoever shot the critter in the first place should take responsibility for disposing of the corpse. Three times I have had to deal with shot cats crawling under my shed to die. It is a very unpleasant chore!

The thread has been derailed. The true predator was probably a bird of prey.

I've come to the conclusion that, yeah, it probably ventured into my yard after being shot. As for the predator, I'm going to say that it wasn't a bird of prey. Whatever it was had opened the cage and had opened the rabbit cage. It apparantly wasn't large enough to want to mess with my dutch then after it released it. It also left three birds in the cage, huddled up, and others were left roaming through the yard.

First of all

Sorry for the loss of your animals. Secondly... I happen to be a sensitive person that respect's life, although... if I find that my animals are being threatened by anything... I will defend them, I don't own a gun but I'll hop my fanny in the car and pick myself up a CO2 bb gun and a 6 pack of beer and stage a steak out. I am my girls protection and I will make sure that even though they don't have a Roo they have me. Next best thing

Sounds like racoons to me too. Almost the same exact thing happened to my neighbor. He lost something like 12 birds in 3 nights. The first night something got a few of them and did exactly like you said, ate the back parts of them and then left the rest. The second night nothing. The third night he lost a few more so the last night he waited up with a shotgun and turns out it was a whole family of coons. He ended up trapping several more over the next few weeks. They are bold and very dextrous.

It seems to me that, if it was a beloved pet, that the owner would be keeping it in their yard. Most cats don't bother adult chickens, but there are exceptions. Whether an animal is a pet or a predator depends on which side of the fence its on.

Yup..agreed..
I have 7 indoor cats.. (i know..i know... just shoot ME..

Anyways..WHY are they all indoor cats?? Because i dont want them getting run over by by cars, shot , or eaten by predators...
If you care about your pets so much keep them in your house or yard!!
