Tough Question

Thanks to all for your wonderful responses. I mistakenly thought that genetics were the prime contributor. Many of the quail entering day three have "fixed" themselves. I still have four - out of 27 - that are in tough shape. I will apply tape wraps this afternoon and hope for the best. Thanks again, Dave

You can also try putting them in a shot glass or pint glass for some "physical therapy." As they try to push up on their legs to escape the glass, it helps to strengthen them. A little easier than trying to make little braces for tiny quail legs :)

I made a 'cup' from a slice of paper towel roll cut to size and used blue painters tape to keep the chick in place until the splay leg was corrected.
