I recently hatched this peachick and it was like shrink wrapped in the egg. I managed to help get it out but the baby was really really weak. I’ve been syringe dropping vital and gentle force feeding for two days now. The chick gained some strength but were not 100%. Also the chick had a contracted food so I made a tiny sandal like thing to keep the toes straight and help it wobble around better. Well while feeding last night I saw a bug crawling around it’s head then disappeared into the fluff. I assume it’s lice picked up from the hen who hatched it. I wonder if it’s safe to dust chicks, or brooding hens with chicks who have lice? This little chick is already having such a tough start and I don’t think lice will help any.

Yes it's safe to treat chicks for lice.

What exact product do you have for treating?
I havnt bought anything yet to treat for lice but I work at a farm supply store so I could easily get my hands on some. What would you recommend for treating this little chick? I don’t want to hurt the little thing in any way that’s why I posted here before just treating... also, thank you for responding!

a couple more questions real quick...
Are you going to treat the mom too?
Can you handle her to treat?

I'm gonna to call a peafowl owner over real quick.
She may not be awake just yet so give her a little while to get here.
@casportpony
I am pretty sure she likes to use Ivermectin for lice but I do not know a dose for a chick... She will.

I would use some permethrin on everyone.
